The monitor is connected at its input to a High Voltage DC Bus. It senses the level of the input voltage and issues a closed contact signal when the voltage is within normal range. When an over or under-voltage condition occurs, the contact is opened. The output relay is powered by a Low Voltage DC Bus. One terminal of the relay contact is attached to the positive rail of the low voltage bus.

Operations
  • The over-voltage set point is factory set such that on a rising voltage the contact opens for: 739 Vdc < Vhigh < 777 Vdc
  • Over the operating temperature range and throughout the useful operating life of the product the set point will be: 712 Vdc < Vhigh < 804 Vdc
  • The over-voltage circuit time constant is 37 ms, nominal. The subsequent delay introduced by the relay is less than 5 ms. On a falling voltage the contact will open for an input voltage approximately 23 Volts lower than the rising voltage trigger point.
  • The under-voltage set point is factory set such that on a rising voltage the contact closes for: 322 Vdc < Vhigh < 340 Vdc
  • Over the operating temperature range and throughout the useful operating life of the product the set point will be: 310 Vdc < Vhigh < 350 Vdc
  • The under-voltage circuit time constant is 50 ms, nominal. The subsequent delay introduced by the relay is less than 3 ms. On a falling voltage the contact will open for an input voltage approximately 16 Volts lower than the rising voltage trigger point.
  • There are two I/O signals. One contact which operation is described above and a yellow LED.
  • The contact rating is 0.5 A at 50 Vdc and is connected between the terminal labeled " CTL " and the terminal labeled " - " of Low Voltage DC Bus.
  • The yellow LED is turned on whenever the Low Voltage DC Bus is present and the contact is opened. The yellow is close to the top right corner of the VDCM front cover.

Applying a reverse polarity will not damage the unit.

The monitor may be subjected, without a damage, to a continuous input voltage of 1600Vdc.
